04/03/2015 #06 - This is Tony Baumert of CDI, the subcontractor who is doing the demolition and concrete work; in fact, Tony is CDI – it’s his company. Tony is a Hoosier having grown up in Indiana and graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in Contracting Management (top of his class). He started as an intern and worked his way up in a General Contracting company named CDI located in Terre Haute, Indiana. A few years later he and his wife, also an Indiana State graduate, started a Florida Certified General Contracting company near Daytona Beach (they had spent a couple spring breaks there and fell in love with the place). They named it CDI since, ever-mindful of expenses, they had all those shirts and parkas with CDI on them!).

Tony is an interesting guy. He is a certified National Soccer Referee; that is just one step below International Referee. To reach this level, referees must have extensive experience, pass rigorous written and physical tests, and their performance assessed by professional instructors – it is not easy and not many make it this far. Tony has officiated NCAA college soccer championship matches and has refereed preseason Major League Soccer matches; the MLS is the top U.S. professional league to which Orlando’s brand new Orlando City belong. Tony no longer has time to pursue this level of refereeing, but he is very active in youth soccer. Not surprisingly, their two young sons are excellent soccer players.
